Since I have absolutely nothing to do..... I decided to spice up the forums a bit by adding a music playlist option to the member pages. The player won't start on it's own, so it's all user choice whether they want to listen to anything anyone has on their playlists. SO, if you want to share your music tastes with everyone else, then follow the instructions to get a playlist on your member profile page!

INSTRUCTIONS (http://talk.subdued.us/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_playlist)

Beware of my playlist, the first 10 songs are user friendly... for the most part, but the rest~ The last 2 songs are hilarious, so you'll want to listen to those. :D

Also, new member information fields have been added like what you're playing, your server, etc. Update your information people! Lazy bastards!!

Quick note for any non-US people trying (or UK at least), because of licensing restrictions it doesn't work. I've checked 75 tracks so far and none of them play.

Aww that sucks.... :(
After im done fucking around with my computer i'll take some time to look into using a different playlist plugin, maybe one that hooks in with youtube since that doesn't have any copyright restrictions yet afaik.

i added a new option for a video playlist that get's it from youtube... afaik youtube hasnt started any bullshit copyright stuff by region, but the music group nazis are all over most stuff and restrict the embedding option.... but it's a second option anyway. the playlist we were talking about on IRC... i put those songs in the video playlist on my profile if you want to give it a listen.

Er.. youtube has always had copyright by region restrictions. Haven't you seen tim and scott and others complaining about "This video is not available in your country."? :hmm:

Er.. youtube has always had copyright by region restrictions. Haven't you seen tim and scott and others complaining about "This video is not available in your country."? :hmm:

these restrictions aren't imposed by youtube, they are imposed by the one uploading the video. any douche putting restrictions on their videos would most usually be any that fall into the category of restricting embedding as well, such as the "music group nazis" i mentioned (WMG, EMI, UMG, etc.)... so IF the members of this forum follow instructions they will not be putting those videos into their playlists.

the youtube restrictions for watching videos that have copyright claims are pretty lame anyway, even videos you find that have been "removed" for violations can still be accessed by anyone AFAIK. instead of using the /watch?v= just put in /v/ and you can watch it.

now.... unless any of the above has changed, i'm not an avid youtube user and even less so when im out of the country, i'm pretty sure the video playlists will be just fine for anyone outside the US. Scott will just have to come back to this post and clarify if it is or isn't!
